The GALP Costa Brava, the local action group that supports fishing communities along the coast, has celebrated its tenth anniversary. The organisation has handed out more than €3.5 million in grants to local projects since it was founded in 2016.
The anniversary was marked with a commemorative event at the Espai Medes. It brought together institutional representatives, local stakeholders, maritime and fishing professionals, and entrepreneurs with links to the Costa Brava.
Organisers used the occasion to review a decade of work. They also looked ahead to the projects, people and opportunities expected to shape the coming years.
Thirteen museums and thirteen wineries across the province of Girona will team up this October for the fifth edition of "Beu-te el museu", a programme that pairs cultural visits with tastings of DO Empordà wine.
The name is a Catalan play on words, roughly "Drink up the museum". The activities will take place on weekends throughout October. Several museums and one winery are taking part for the first time.
Tickets and prices
A total of 380 places are available, and the price stays at €22 per person, the same as last year. Each activity is limited to between 20 and 30 people.
Recorded crime fell in both Figueres and Roses in the first half of this year, according to new figures from the Spanish Ministry of the Interior. However, drug trafficking offences went up in both towns, and several violent crime categories rose across the province of Girona.
The ministry's statistics compare the first six months of the year with the same period of 2025. Figueres, the capital of the Alt Empordà, registered 1,843 criminal offences, a drop of 8.6%. Roses recorded 788, a fall of 20%.
The data brings together reports from all four police forces working in the area: the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalonia's regional police), local police forces, the Policia Nacional and the Guàrdia Civil. The ministry publishes separate figures only for municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants, along with a total for each province.
